[JB HOTEL REVIEW] HOTEL STAYCATION DOUBLETREE BY HILTON JOHOR BAHRU
Located approximately 10-15 minutes walk away from Johor Bahru (JB) custom checkpoint (Sultan Iskandar Building) , City Square Mall and KOMTAR JBCC, DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru was established on 1 July 2014. It was previously named Menara Landmark is strategically located at the city centre of Johor Bahru. While staying at DoubleTree by Hilton, they are tons of food places to explore other than the standard shopping malls (City Square and KOMTAR JBCC). You can find out the foods and cafes along Jalan Dhoby and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee.
The hotel is ideal for a weekend staycation and I had a great time with my family. We booked 3 Deluxe Guest Rooms for the family members to stay over the weekend last month (end October 2015). We were greeted with smile by upon reaching the entrance of the hotel lobby.
The receptionist at the counter was friendly and approachable as we settle our check-in process. Once the check-in process completed, we were given complimentary DoubleTree’s signature chocolate chip cookies as a welcome snack. It was still pipping hot when the cookies are handed over to us.
HOTEL ROOM
The room is equipped with wireless internet access but there is an additional charges for that so we didn’t request as the public areas in the hotel WIFI is FREE. 40″ LCD TV with selection of local and satelite channels are available in the room.
What I enjoyed most is the stylish bathroom where the glass feature wall in the shower.
The basic amenities are available in the room. Not forgetting the complimentary of 2 bottles of mineral waters.
FOODS & DRINKS
Since we got the rooms booked in special discounts, breakfast was not included in the package. Nevertheless, we decided to go for the tea time buffet at Makan Kitchen for our meal during noon time. Makan Kitchen is located at the hotel lobby and serves an international buffet spread with local specialities. The Asian delights has wide array of choices.
HOTEL FACILITIES
Gym and swimming pool are located at the same floor, 13th floor along with the Tosca, an italian restaurant of the hotel. I didn’t get to try the foods there but my parents were here several times and they said it was good. The fitness has an awesome view of the swimming pool where hotel guests get to exercise with nice view.
Steam rooms and jacuzzis are are available as well for the Male and Female section. My sisters and I had a good time enjoying the facilities here.
To summarize the staycation, I would say it was a wonderful weekend for bonding time. We did not drive out of the hotel as all the foods and shopping places are accessible by foot. The staffs are all in smiles whenever we came in contact with them. I personally feel that they are well-trained in their services and it is a plus point to my comfortable stay with DoubleTree by Hilton.
You can book a private city transfer from Singapore to Johor Bahru using Klook. This is best solution if you are travelling with family or big groups.
