[SG EATS] Jinjo At Shaw Centre Orchard- Modern Sumiyaki Restaurant by Les Amis Group
Jinjo located at Level 2 of Shaw Centre Orchard is a modern sumiyaki restaurant by Les Amis Group. The restaurant specialises Japanese charcoal-grilling dishes and their prime seasonal ingredients are sourced from all over Japan. The details of the restaurant are available on their official website. I was searching for affordable Japanese lunch places and saw the lunch sets available here. Thus, my friend and I decided to try here. There are only 3 lunch set offers in Jinjo – Gyu Set S$35.00++ , Tori Set S$25.00++ and Unagi Set S$32.00++. The lunch set comes with salad, pickles and soup.We started off with Yaki Goma Tofu S$6.00++ . The goma tofu taste like a panna cotta with black sesame tofu spread with aichi red miso and Kyoto miso. It is simple and yet refreshing dish to start our meal. Next is my lunch choice- Gyu Set S$35.0++ that served with 100grams kagoshima yakiniku beef, onsen egg and Japanese rice. It was a delectable bowl of gyu don with well balanced marbling and tenderness from the yakiniku beef. It would be perfect if their onsen egg is runny. With the price tag, this is pretty decent bowl of gyu don with flavours in the Japanese rice and the sides.
My friend ordered Tori Set S$25.00++ served with grilled chicken, chicken meatball, onsen egg and Japanese rice. It was a nicely grilled and marinade chicken skewer. The sauces tasted sweet and savoury, which goes well with the Japanese rice and not-so runny onsen egg.
We also ordered Jinjo Warabimochi S$10.00++ for our sweet treats. Jelly texture topped with kinako powder. If only the warabimochi texture can be as chewy and firm like 108 Matcha Saro, it will be good for our liking.Overall dining experience was pleasure except hiccups on the seating option. We were told that 2 pax is usually seated at the bar counter but we saw there is a table of 2 pax at the other dining corner. Thus, we requested to sit at the dining area but were told that it was reserved.
As our meal came to the end, we realized that the table is not taken at all. Apart from that, we are okay with the food and service from the lady who was friendly and approachable. If you are looking for charcoal grilled sumiyaki-style dining experience, this can be one of your option.
