[SG EATS] Long Beach @ Robertson Quay At The Quayside

Long Beach Seafood Restaurant is a Singapore’s leading seafood restaurant and also the Creator of the Original and Best Black Pepper Crab since 1982. The restaurant is an iconic seafood place to go for locals and tourists. My last visit to their outlet at Dempsey was almost 10 years ago. Oh boy! Time flies and I am here at their sixth outlet at Robertson Quay (opened in early August this year).Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-2

This new space is an ideal place for casual dining along Singapore River, hosting corporate functions for VIP guests and wedding events. There are private rooms for diners who prefer privacy, alfresco dining and indoor dining space.

The menu offers wide variety of seafood items like lobsters, prawns, clams, crabs, fish and many more. Other non-seafood items are available to complete the meal experience. Apart from their usual menu, the outlet also offers Sampling Menu. The Sampling Menu curated for solo diners or for couples, with a variety of food selection in small portion to give diners more control and options to try out different dishes.
Here are some of the highlight dishes we tried during our lunch session:
Steamed Live Scottish Royal Razor Clam with Garlic & Vermicelli
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay
It is a good start of the seafood feast. Fresh, plump and tender clam meat complements the fragrant lightly browned garlic and vermicelli.

Live Drunken Prawn with Herbal Soup
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-1
The live prawn with shells enhanced the herbal soup broth with an extra sweetness to complement the bitterness from the Chinese herbs and shaoxing wine. This is definitely a comforting soup to go to especially on rainy days.

House Speciality Live Prawn
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-Prawns with Kupang Style
The specialty prawns coated with a layer of house ingredient to retain the moisture of the prawn during the frying process. Thus, explains the crunchy texture.

The broth is a mixture of coconut milk, spice and other house ingredients that produces a creamy, savory and mild spicy broth which makes it different from laksa. Same same but different though. The broth packed in flavours and best to go with a bowl of white rice.

BBQ Sotong with Spicy Sauce (2 sticks, S$12.00++)

Their grilled chicken satay in skewer served with a sweet and spicy peanut sauce topped with pineapple puree and paired with cucumber and onion slices. Rich flavours with chunky meat that you couldn’t stop eating.

Famous Chilli Fresh Crab Meat with Handmade Fried Bun (1pc) S$18.00++
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-Chilli Crab with mantou
The chilli crab with tangy gravy that flows into the succulent chunky flesh crab meats is best to enjoy with handmade fried bun/ mantou.A balance of sweet and spicy taste. I would recommend getting this plate of goodness when you are here. It is available in their Sampling Menu.

The Original Best Black Pepper Dungeness Crab –Seasonal Price
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-Black pepper sauce crab
Well coated with piquant black pepper sauce after being stir-fried is all time favourite crab dish too. The crabs are hige and delicious with the aromatic black pepper sauce and robust flavour. They also provide de-shelling service as a value added service to all diners that do not want to dirty their hands. We are so glad that we are able to enjoy every bits of the crab meats without any hassle. Alternatively, disposable paper apron and hand gloves are also provided if diners want to enjoy the process of consuming the crabs.

Deep Fried Flat Rice Noodle with ‘La La King”
Long Beach Seafood Robertson Quay-Hor Fun
Another recommended dish is this hor fun cooked in two ways. The bottom layer is tossed in oil and sauce and covered with clams cooked in thick gravy. And top with a layer of crispy deep-fried hor fun that enhances the texture, taste and flavours. I love the wok hei and the smokiness that are infused with the seafood flavour. Loving it!
