[SG EATS] THAT FIERY FIRE RAMEN AT SHIN-SAPPORO RAMEN ORCHARD GATEWAY

If you are craving for Japanese ramen, where do you usually go? Other than the famous Keisuke Ramen, Shin-Sapporo Ramen is also one of the ramen place in Singapore F&B market. The brand itself has recently introduced Fire Ramen. I was excited to witness the fire show the other day. I thought the only chance I can see fire ramen in Japan but it is in Singapore now. For those who are as curious as me, do check them out.

With the new gimmicky serving, the fire show certainly gets the whole attention in the restaurant. The hot garlic-based flavor oil sets the flames creates a sensational visual to diners like us. So, after the ‘fire show’ is done, the chashu, green onions and Japanese leeks will be slightly charred.

And if you thought it will be spicy, then you are wrong. The ramen is not spicy at all. It is Shin-Sapporo’s signature Tonkotsu broth and stock from pork bones and meat. It is served with hakata-style noodles topped with Japanese leeks, green onions, bamboo shoots and slices of yakibuta( chashu).

Here are some tips or guidelines if you ever want to try the Fire Ramen:-

It was initially launched in 2014 and it has re-launched again for the winter season in Japan. The broth is prepared with sake and the after taste of the sake still lingers in my mouth. Some might find the alcohol taste is overpowering but it is all depends on individual’s preference. But I personally feel that the sake taste is mild. The ingredients in the ramen are the same except that the broth comes with sake in it.

Shin Sapporo Sake Ramen-Dry Version
This is the dry version of sake ramen. The noodle used is the Abura Soba which is a preferred choice among female customers. The difference with the hot sake ramen is that this version comes with addition of oil and shoyu in it. The sake taste is lighter as compared to hot sake ramen.

Desserts
Shin Sapporo Chocolate Lava
We ended with a sweet note the night with Chocolate Lava Cake S$8.80.

If you are adventurous in food exploring, I would recommend you to give it a try. The spectacular fire flames that last for less than 10 seconds are definitely enhancing visual satisfaction. Or perhaps get yourself tipsy with their sake ramen.

Notes: Shin-Sapporo Fire Ramen and Sake Ramen will be available at Orchard Gateway and Century Square outlets for a limited period (seasonal) till end of March 2016. The Fire Ramen is advised to order 1 day in advance to avoid any disappointment.
