[SG EATS] WHY UNCLE LEONG SEAFOOD SIGNATURES AND NOT UNCLE LEONG SEAFOOD RESTAURANT?
Waterway Point is the latest neighbourhood mall located next to Punggol MRT Station. The new mall has quite a number of familiar F&B brands spotted and one of the latest additions is Uncle Leong Signatures as of May 2016. If you are familiar with Uncle Leong Seafood, this Uncle Leong Seafood Signatures is their new brand concept. Their first outlet was in a coffeeshop located in Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood and since then they have expanded across Singapore.
So, what is the difference in this NEW Uncle Leong Seafood Signatures?
1. PRICE ARE STATED IN MENU INSTEAD OF SEASONAL PRICING
We usually dine in seafood restaurants including Uncle Leong Seafood restaurants that offer quite a variety of seafood choices that comes with seasonal pricing. Thus, we will need to check the price with the service staff before we decide to order. With the fixed price stated in the menu, customers that are cost conscious can do their own calculation of the estimate meal.
2. DISHES ARE SERVED IN ONE SIZE
If you notice, Uncle Leong Seafoods served in three sizes; Small , Medium and Large. But in Uncle Leong Signatures, they served in one size only. The portion is best to enjoy within 3-4 pax.
3. ‘CAFÉ’ RESTAURANT
Uncle Leong Signatures is categorized as the ‘café’ version of the restaurant where it is located conveniently in shopping mall. If you notice, the current 3 outlets are not located in the mall. With the strategic location in Waterway Point Mall, customers can just take the train to Punggol MRT Station. And they also reduce the serving time within 15 minutes upon ordering.
4. 100 OVER NEW DISHES
There are 100 over new dishes available in Uncle Leong Signatures as compared with other outlets. There are dishes only available here in Punggol include:
Butter Cheesy Crab 牛油芝士螃蟹 S$70.00 (Current Menu)
I find the garlic taste was overpowering and was unable to taste the buttery and cheesy taste. Nevertheless, the crab meats were fresh and sweet.We feedback to them and the chef will tweak the recipe and work on it. Hopefully we can taste an improved version on our next visit.
Pan Fried Prawns in Tomato Soya Sauce 干煎虾禄 S$19.90 (New Menu)
Cereal Chicken 麦片鸡 S$16.90 (New Menu)
This is recommended to eat while its hot. Thick and creamery gravy and cereal coated on top of the chicken meat. It was the crowd pleaser that night.
XO Sauce with Scallops XO 酱带子 S$19.90 (New Menu)
This is best to enjoy with a bowl of rice along with the XO sauce.
Treasure Box Beancurd 宝盒豆腐 S$16.90 (New Menu)
Beancurd served with mixed flavours of beancurds and prawns in the ‘treasure box’.
Twin Taste Kai Lan 双味芥兰 S$15.90 (Current Menu)
This is a chef’s recommendation dish. It is served with poached kai lan with small dried fish and shallot and the other side with deep fried topped with meat floss. The deep fried version surprisingly addictive and can be treated as snacks too.
And Uncle Leong Signatures is having Father’s Day Menu Special – 3 HERO menus which is only available within a short period of time. There are 2 set menus to choose from. Feasting with our Hero, Dad! S$338.00++ for up to 7 pax and Indulge yourself, Dad, our Hero! S$588.00++ for up to 10 pax. Dishes that are available only for this period include:
Chilli Crab 辣椒螃蟹 S$70.00 (Father’s Day Menu)
Love the chilli gravy especially when I dipped it with mantou. There will be additional charges if you want additional mantou. They can even order additional 1 piece here.
Crispy Milk Granules Marble Goby 奶沙顺壳 S$48.00 (Father’s Day Menu)
Deep fried fish with in-house made sauces that drizzled over it. Crispy in the exterior and soft in the interior to enjoy.
Nescafe Pork Ribs 传统咖啡排骨 S$16.90 (Father’s Day Menu)
Surprisingly the coffee taste was not strong at all. I am not a coffee person but I still enjoyed this dish and the marinating was well executed. The pork ribs were tender and soft were served with aluminium foils to keep the intensity of the flavour.
