[SG EATS] SUSHI JIN – THE JAPANESE RESTAURANT @ ONE FARRER HOTEL BY LES AMIS GROUP
It was Eric’s post birthday celebration and he decided to have Sushi Jin for his birthday treat. Sushi Jin is located within a walking distance from Farrer Park MRT station and this casual Japanese dining restaurant is part of Les Amis Group that has quite a number of restaurants in Singapore. Upon entering the restaurant, there are two dining sections available; sushi bar and also the table seating area. We booked the table seating for lunch as we are going to have set lunch instead of sashimi and sushi. If I am going to have sashimi and sushi, I will definitely choose the sushi bar to witness how the chef in action.
The table seating area has limited dining space but I find it quite cosy and private though. Customers started to flow in during lunch hour and I noticed that there are walk-ins customers too. The walk-in customers are told to dine in a specified dining timing as there are reservations made in advance. So, I guess it is still better to make reservation if you are planning to head down to Sushi Jin to avoid any disappointment.
For lunch, few options are available. Omakase lunch and set lunch sets are available. We ordered our choice of set lunch ranging from S$30.00 plus onwards. So, the set lunch comes with an appetizer salad, mains, miso soup and desserts.
Eric ordered Hokkaido Don S$38.00++ which includes sea urchin (uni) , scallop, tamago and salmon roe over sushi rice. Fresh ingredients and it was a bowl of goodness. If only the portion can be bigger, it would be perfect.
As for myself, I had Wagyu and foie gras Don S$39.00++.The wagyu beef was nicely sliced and pan-seared with the fatty foie gras. The meat was succulent and juicy together with the sushi rice. The combination of the foie grass with the wagyu beef slice was delicious and melts into my mouth. This reminds me of the wagyu don I had at Chotto Matte been equally delicious. However, the price here are attractive as it comes with a set. Having said that, the portion served in Sushi Jin is smaller though.
Our dessert for the day was watermelon, grapes and a tiny cube of konnyaku jelly. I was expecting matcha ice-cream to end the meal. Oh well, that was the dessert of the day.
Our total bill was S$90.63 inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST. The staffs are also quite prompt and attentive in terms of serving the customers. It was a pleasant dining experience with Sushi Jin.I think I will be back to try their omakase or other set lunch lists soon. It was quite an affordable pricing with decent serving and quality of Japanese cuisine.
