Weekend just got better with more buffet varieties around Singapore lately. Cocobolo Poolside Bar & Grill, alfresco restaurant located at Park Hotel Clarke Quay is one in the weekend buffet list. Starting from 30 September, the restaurant will revamped its weekend barbecue buffet menu with upsized variety of premium meats and seafood items along with an expanded selection of appetisers and hot mains. I was there last Friday to check out the buffet varieties.

The buffet signature of course is the grill food that includes New Zealand Angus Striploin, Australian Rack of Lamb seasoned with rosemary and Dijon mustard, U.S. Baby Back Ribs in Spicy Chipotle Sauce and gourmet sausages.

Grilled seafood items include Cajun-spiced Tiger prawns, turmeric-laced arrow squid and grilled mackerel fish in banana leaf are in the list as well. Diners can watch the chefs on action while they deliver the delicious and tender grilled foods from time to time. The smoky flavours and the sizzling sounds from the grilling are everywhere.My personal favourite are the grilled lamb rack and the grilled mackerel fish in banana leaf. When I opened up the banana leaf, the first impression was “ This looks like otah”. The fish is well-marinated and the spiciness level was within my level. The lamb rack is well-seasoned and flavourful in taste. If there is one thing to comment, I prefer the Angus striploin level of doneness can be lower. Of course, you can always request the level of doneness to the chef on the spot but do allow for a waiting grace period.

If you are overdose with carbs, take a break and check out the appertiser and hot mains station. Salads include Prawn & Avocado Salad, Summer Panzanella (tomato and zucchini salad), Parham pear and plum salad with mint dressing, Mexican chilli con carne with nachos, new potato and beef salami salad and more. Other than that, roasted Australia pumpkin wedges, bacon & cheddar spud skin and teriyaki chicken skewers are also available.

Dessert is a must for every meal. There are assorted desserts including apple crumble pie, caramelized pear tart, chocolate raspberry cake, New York cheesecake, green tea chestnut mousse cake, and Portuguese egg tarts. And delightful surprises of mini Magnum and Cornetto ice-cream.

Perfect evening to dine in by the poolside with cabanas with free flow grilled foods and desserts for a weekend. There is also a bar that serves cocktails and drinks with additional charge from the weekend barbecue buffet price. I would recommend this place if you are big fan for grilled items but not on the varieties though. Nevertheless, weekend buffet by the pool side with a breezy chill evening is just perfect for a date.
