[JB EATS] CHEOT NUN KOREAN DESSERT CAFÉ- ONE OF THE BEST BINGSU IN JOHOR BAHRU (NEW LOCATION)
*Updated on October 2022*
Cheot Nun Korean Dessert Café was opened late last year (2016) and I have visited the place 2nd time including my recent visit. The Korean Dessert Café located next to Sprout (fine dining restaurant) and a short distance from City Square JB & Komtar Mall. You can take a cab, uber or grab here with less than RM8. I wouldn’t advise you to walk even though it is a walking distance from CIQ. I think I should include this in my Johor Food By Foot Guide listing.
The café is owned by a couple – local husband and a korean wife. The café business has been doing very well. Queues are forming during my recent visit. We queued for approximately 10-15 minutes before securing a table.
Orders and payment to be made at the cashier counter. The staff will then serve our food when it is ready. Even the complimentary water is served by the staff.
So, this time we ordered bingsu and 2 savoury dishes because we need something savoury after 5 non-stops of desserts.
Green Tea Bingsu RM26.80 ~S$8.59
My second time trying green tea flavour and I would say they did a good job on the quality consistency. The green tea (matcha) flavoured shaved ice is fine and smooth in texture. The snowflake like texture easily disintegrates in your mouth. And the combination of red bean paste and a scoop of green tea ice-cream are just perfect.
Cheese Soup Tteokbokki RM22.80
Tteokbokki , Korean rice cake here is soft and chewy and goes pretty well with the cheese and soup. Surprisingly, it is not spicy at all.
Cheese Sausage RM18.80
This is superb addictive and recommend to order this as a snack. It is served in a round hot iron cast pan where the sausages are placed in the middle and the cheese is all over the pan. But bear in mind, you need to have it fast because the cheese gets cold and hard very fast. And the sausages are actually cheese sausage!
Other than these, they also serve toast, coffee and tea. I would suggest you to come during off-peak hours to avoid the queue. This is one of the best bingsu I tried in Johor Bahru and definitely a YES from most of my friends and readers when I recommended this place.
