Tengawa Hokkaido White Curry located at Millenia Walk is the first Japanese restaurant in Singapore that serve white curry. The shop is at the entrance of Nihon Street. Nicholas and I visited the place few weeks ago ( 24 February 2017) for dinner. I was surprised to see my ex-supplier, Bobby around and only get to know that he is one of the owners of the restaurant.


The menu is pretty straightforward currently. They only have 3 sets – Ebi Fry S$16.80 , Hamburg (beef patty) S$15.80 and Chicken Katsu S$15.80. All sets come with miso soup, and truffle chawanmushi. And there is a bottle of pickles on the table which is free flow. Diners can ask for more rice and miso soup with no additional charges.
Moving on is the set that we ordered.

Chicken Katsu Set

Both ebi fry and chicken katsu are crispy. The ebi fry (prawn) is fresh and sweet whereas the chicken katsu is tender in texture. As for the highlight of the dish, the white curry tasted similar to the usual Japanese curry except that it is in white colour. That was my first taste impression. The white curry is cooked with Hokkaido milk and thus this explains the creamy texture in it. And I love their short-grained rice which goes well with the white curry sauce. However, we would prefer more curry sauce because we finished off the gravy even before our rice.

Once we are done with the meal, payment is made at the cashier counter. The set meal is priced at a reasonable pricing and wouldn’t mind visiting them again.
