It has been a while since I last shared my Johor Bahru makan place. My family and I went for dinner at Khi Ten Restaurant over one of the weekend. The restaurant is located in Taman Melodies which is a short distance away from KSL Mall. It is also near to Lemon Tree Restaurant (Western-style restaurant). Khi Ten is a family business restaurant that operates many years since I was still a little kid.This non-air conditioned restaurant runs like zi-char style but they do serve seafood dishes. Thus, you need to check with them on the types of availability seafood on that day. They also have double-boiled soup of the day too.

Here are the dishes we ordered for 5 pax:
Teochew Style Steam Fish RM45.00 ~S$14.52
The dish was appetizing and delightful to the taste buds.

Soup of the Day RM7.00/per bowl ~S$2.26/per bowl
The classic earthy watercress soup to kick starts the meal. It comes in individual portion. We ordered two bowls to share.

Herbal Chicken RM25.00~S$8.06
Herbal chicken tasted okay but I think the one in Teck Sing Taman Sentosa is better though.Although the broth tasted savoury, the flavour is not rich enough.The chicken meat is not fork tender.

Yam Basket RM20.00~S$6.45
This reminds me of the dish we usually seen in weddings. It is available here in yam ring shaped and filled with ingredients in the middle.





Wild Boar Meat with Ginger RM12.00~S$3.88
Wild boar meat is rarely served in many places and it is also depends on the availability. The colour of the meat is darker as compared with pork meat. The texture is tough and the taste is quite unique.

Total bill RM121.10 ~S$39.10 inclusive of 1 cup of chinese tea , 3 bowls of rice and 6% GST. We requested the dishes to cook in small portion because we are controlling our diet. The portion is just nice to feed 5 of us. It was a comforting and decent zi-char dinner. We also noticed that there are quite a number of regular customers during dinner time too.
