Spices Café from Concorde Hotel is having the Harvest of the Sea Dinner Buffet again this year. We can expect unlimited order of crab feasts with different flavours. The flavours include chilli crabs, black pepper crabs, sautéed saffron crabs, butter & white pepper crabs and salted egg crabs. If you are a crab lover,get your hands on these flavours for a buffet feast at Spices Café.It’s a theme of seafood buffet where you can expect varieties of seafoods to choose from. Other than crabs, start your buffet with the appertizer spread where DIY Salads are available. There are different kinds of cheeses to go with the breads.
Sauteed Saffron crabs are uncommon in many places.The sautéed saffron has the pumpkin puree taste coated on the crab. Also, try out their butter and white pepper which is also uncommon flavour. The gravy was thick and creamy with the buttery taste. And most of us enjoyed the salted egg yolk crabs too.
LOBSTER OR ABALONE
On top of the crab feast, diners have the privilege to order choice of lobster or abalone for once. This is only for ONE time choice though. There are two flavours of lobster; baked cheese lobster or sambal lobster. If you are a spicy lover, go for the local taste of sambal but beware the spiciness level of it. Alternatively, you can go for the abalone plated with the broccoli for lighter taste option.
SALAD & APPERTIZER STATION
For those who prefer to start with salads and cold cuts ham, there is a section for it. Diners can also opt for own customize salad with the choice of ingredients and mix it on the big bowl before transferring to own plate.
SASHIMI, SUSHI & FRESH SEAFOODS STATION
Next, do not miss the sashimi and fresh seafoods stations. The usually salmon and tuna sashimi are in the list and sushi spreads are available as well. As for fresh seafoods, there are fresh oysters, mussels and many more.
COOKED FOODS STATION
As usual, each buffet restaurants will offers the cooked dishes and one of the must-try dishes that I personally enjoyed is the Steamed Garoupa with garlic and glass noodles. The fish was smooth and tender with flavourful sauce on top of it. And the wok-fried spicy clams with lotus leaf were quite a hit as well. Although it is stated spicy, the spiciness level was mild to suit everyone taste buds.And lookout for the satays as well.
CHEF COOKING STATION
There is a station where chef is stationed to prepare the laksa and the herbal prawn as per request. The laksa tasted fragrance and served in katong laksa style.
There is always room for desserts. There are chocolate fondue, DIY Ice Kacang and spreads of pastries and fruits. The cakes are served in mini size so that customers can get to try more flavours. There are even local desserts as well.
There are hits and misses for the buffet but I think hits are more than misses. Fresh and succulent seafoods are served and diners can indulge in local delights at the same time. Isn’t it a great combination? And with S$53.00++ during weekday’s dinner, I personally think it is quite affordable especially lobster is served too. It is quite a deal as compared with buffet at other hotel restaurants.
