[JB EATS] HOKKAIDO CHEESE TARTS SERIES AVAILABLE AT THE SUGAR PANTRY, JOHOR BAHRU NOW!
Following the craze of salted egg yolk croissants, cheese tarts are now the next trend. There are many places in Singapore selling cheese tarts and the current craze is BAKE located at Ion Orchard. And finally Johor Bahru is having the first Hokkaido Cheese Tart series too! The Sugar Pantry located at Taman Molek has launched it on earlier this week (23 May 2016).
The Hokkaido Cheese Tart Series comes with FOUR Flavours:
1. 原味 (三种特级芝士) Original.
2.咸蛋黄 Salted Egg Yolk.
3:海盐焦糖 Sea Salted Caramel.
4.宇治绿茶 Uji Matcha
Each tart is priced at RM7.50/pc (~ S$2.60/pc) and RM24.00 (~S$8.30) for a box of 4 Flavours.
The tarts are freshly baked from their open-concept kitchen in the café daily. They are ready from 12.00pm onwards and are limited each day. I visited The Sugar Pantry around 1.00pm on Thursday (26 May 2016) , just few days ago to get hold the tarts.Lucky me as I able to purchase it before it was gone. By 1.00pm plus the first batch was sold out. Their second batch will only be ready at 3.00pm. So, do watch out the timing if you intend to give it a try.
A box of 4 pieces is cheaper by RM1.50 each so why not purchase the promotion offer? I bought it back to Singapore for my sisters to try as well. The cheese tarts are made of 3 different types of cheese from French and Japan. We shared calories together and tried all the four flavours. The favourite flavour for us was the salted egg cheese tart. My sister said it was better than Icing Room version because the salted egg taste was stronger in taste.
As for the Uji Matcha flavour, we find that the cheese taste was too overwhelming and we cannot really taste the matcha in it. Same goes to the sea salted caramel version.
Nevertheless, despite few hours after purchase, the cheese texture was still remain molten and bits of flowy as well. The pastry chef did a good job on texture of the tarts. The brie cheese was indeed thick and soft. So it is all about preference and individual tastebuds. I trust that cheese lovers will give it a try. As for me, I find it too rich and I will share it instead of having all by myself. But I will definitely visit The Sugar Pantry again for their pastries and cakes. I love their cakes creation with is not overly sweet and well-balance on their combination of ingredients.
If you not interested with cheese tarts, you can still do your cafe hopping across causeway too!
