Amazing Hokkaido located at Robertson Quay is the latest addition around the area. The restaurant serves fresh produce flown in daily from Hokkaido, Japan. Now you know where to satisfy your Japanese cuisine cravings if you are in the vicinity. The restaurant caters 100-seater with colourful fabric and posters of Hokkaido all around.
The Japanese-owned themed izakaya works with a special selection of gourmet partners to offer just like a food fair. Each ingredient is sourced from different gourmet partners daily. For example, Kaneshime Takahashi fishing company for its sashimi, Yamamura seafood processing industry for its fresh seafood and Sasaki Farm that specializes organic greens.
Here are some of the dishes we had during the tasting session:
Melty 7 Kinds of Tsukune S$28.90++
The tsukune served with a variety of toppings such as mentai mayo, fondue cheese and wasabi for extra flavour. Alternatively, you can go for tskune at S$2.90 for 1 skewer. There are different kinds of tsukune in the menu to explore.
Apart from tsukune, they also offer Bibao Yakitori S$4.90++ that features chicken breast, gizzard, liver and heart. Or go for their Muroran Yakitori S$3.90++ , a famous Hokkaido dish. It is a grilled pork and onion skewer that is best to enjoy with mustard. But I think it is already very tasty without the sauce. This melty skewered pork dish originated 80 years ago from Toriyoshi, a classic grill restaurant in Hokkaido.
Hokkaido Wagyu Steak S$23.90++
The steak served on a lava stone plate and the service staff will do a little trick to enhance your dining experience. So, remember to catch that fiery sensation of that moment! This dish comes with an assortment of condiments such as yuzu kosho (yuzu chilli paste), sea salt, wasabi and steak sauce for added flavour.
Sasaki’s Farm Organic Vege Salad S$15.90++
This plate of salad is from Sasaki Farm that employs recycle-based agriculture. Fresh and sweet greens I would say.
Hokkaido Fried Potato with Seaweed & Mentaiko Mayonnaise S$10.90++
Bursting Salmon Roe Rice Bowl S$39.00++
The highlight of the night is this eye-catching bursting salmon roe rice bowl. The service crew will chant enthusiastically “Yoisho! Yoisho!” to live taiko beats, as they heap spoonful after spoonful of umami-laden ikura upon your rice bowl. Superb sinful and yet satisfying!
Amazing Hokkaido also offers extensive drinks menu ranging from sakes to shochus, and Asahis to highballs. Customers can also try their luck at getting some free drinks with the Highball Dice Game. It is an ideal place to hangout for a drink or night-out with your colleagues or friends.
