I am back to Street 50 Restaurant and Bar, Bay Hotel recently for their lunch buffet. The latest buffet theme is the Buffet Egg Xperience for the Easter weekend period (25 – 27 March 2016). Street 50 has partnered with N&N Farm (First and ONLY Pasteurized fresh eggs in Singapore) , freshly laid quail eggs from Uncle William’s quail farm and Gardenasia (Nature-based events management arm of the Nyee Phoe Group that co-organizing the Kranji Countryside Farmers Market) to bring an array of egg related menu and activities to complement the Easter theme.

So, what can diners expect from the buffet?

There will be egg-citing quail stories and egg-ducational talks by the renowned Uncle William Ho aka “The Quail Man of Lim Chu Kang’. He is the co-owner of the game-bird farm, Lian Wah Hang Farm. There will be alfresco Easter egg terrarium workshop conducted by Gardenasia’s ‘egg-ffervescent’ instructors.

As for foods wise, here are the highlights dishes during the period:-
Chinese Cold Cuts

The Chinese cold cuts includes jellyfish, marinated octopus, prawn salad, spring rolls and deep-fried quail eggs. These are just like what is served during Chinese wedding banquet.

62 Degree Celsius Soft Boiled Egg in BRAND’s Essence of Chicken

My favourite dish of the night and I was so excited to see the oozing egg yolk that flows when we poke it. The highlight is that it added the chicken essence in it.

Oven-roasted Chicken with Poached Eggs in Spicy Tomato Sauce

Sambal Prawns with Quail Eggs

The sambal sauce was fragrant and it goes well with the prawns and quail eggs.

Scotch Eggs with Mustard Sauce

It would be best to have it without mustard sauce. The sauce was overwhelming and you cannot really taste the nature of the dish.

Diners can enjoy the eggs at ease since the pasteurisation process kill Salmonella or Bird Flu Virus. It is a good experience and awareness to learn more about it through this Easter buffet period. The Buffet Egg- Xperience is only available as buffet lunch from 25 to 27 March 2016.
