[SG EATS] ICE CREAM SKOOL TAMPINES STREET 42
Ice-cream Skool located at Tampines Street 42 is more than just ice-cream parlour. Located at the neighbourhood estate, Ice cream Skool also offers ice-cream workshops and host corporate events as well. I visited the place few days ago with Eileen and her husband to check out their ice-cream and waffles.
Before we check out their signature waffle and ice-cream, we tried 2 savoury dishes from the ice-cream parlour- Tom Yum Pasta S$8.90 and Chicken-in-a-waffle S$4.90. The tom yum pasta is served with prawns has the spicy, sweet and tangy flavour. And the portion is quite filling and affordable with the price offer.
As for the chicken-in-a-waffle, it was savoury good. The chicken is sandwiched in between the waffle and it is easier to eat with the skewers attached. It is worth trying or even take away too.
Moving on to their signature infused flavour waffle. There are 5 signature waffles- Buttermilk, Butter Chip, Double Chocolate, Matcha and Sweet berries.Different waffle is priced at different pricing ranging from S$3.50- S$4.20 onwards without ice-cream. And being a matcha lover, I ordered match- infused flavour served with maple sauce and a scoop of ice-cream of my choice. So, I decided to have it with yami azuki (Yam and red bean) flavour with my matcha waffle. We enjoyed the fluffy, airy and crispy waffle and of course with our choice of ice-cream.
Next, we check out their latest DIY Everyday Sundae S$6.90. There is an ordering sheet for the Everyday Sundae. You get to choose 3 ice-cream flavours , 3 mix in toppings and the base is their special Earl Grey jelly. There are so many choices and we decided with Salted egg, pistachio and dark chocolate with nata de coco, granola and oreo. I wouldn’t suggest to have strong flavour ice-cream to go with the earl grey jelly because it will be overwhelmed. Thus, if you enjoy having earl grey jelly, I think lighter flavours would be better.
And I would recommend their durian flavour with durian puree. They use Mao Shan Wang or D24 durian on both ice-cream and the puree depending on their supply. Thus, don’t get too disappointed if it is not Mao Shan Wang. The D24 durian also tasted good too! I would recommend having it with the puree because it is like literarily having durian but in cold mode.
On top of these, Ice-cream Skool continuously is developing new flavours to attract customers. They also have interesting kopi , salted egg yolk and many more flavours. Ice-cream here are all in-house made so you can expect new flavours churning out. If there is one thing to comment is the location. The location is quite a distance away from Tampines MRT station. Nevertheless, if you are craving for homemade gelato and waffle, you can always check them out if you are staying at East side.
