[SG EATS] Ramen Champion At Clarke Quay Central
Now you can have Ramen Champion at their latest outlet, Clarke Quay Central. This Japanese brand has expanded their third outlet as a full-serviced restaurant. The new outlet houses popular Japanese ramen brands, including Tonkotsu Ikkyu, Menya Ryu, Buta God and Joshoken.
What is so different for this new outlet?
This is the first Ramen Champion outlet that offers a free-flow salad bar with additional top up of S$4.00 when you order any main course. There are over 20 dishes, from fresh greens to pasta salads and mentaiko potato salads and desserts such as almond pudding with mango, and houjicha pudding with matcha.
Here are the dishes we tried last week:
Mentai Gyoza S$6.80++
Pan-fried gyoza topped with mentaiko sauce and roe. If you are a mentaiko lover, you will enjoy it.
Special Tonkotsu Pink Ramen S$15.80++
This is new innovative twist Japanese dish created that features thin noodles, char siu slices, ajitma egg, black fungus and spring onion. The pink broth is result of infusing fresh beetroot and blueberries with tonkotsu broth. There is a slight tint of sweetness but the overall broth is well-flavoured with savoury elements in it.
Salmon Tower Maki S$21.80++
Salmon lovers anyone? Be sure to order this with overloaded fresh salmon sashimi cubes, ikura, ebiko, crabstick, cucumber and chopped shiso leaf.
Fisherman Don S$21.80++
Chirashi Don alike with fresh fresh sashimi cubes perched atop warm al dente Japanese rice. The fresh sashimi is air-flown from Japan’s Tsukiji market. There are two ways to enjoy this. Add the blended sauce of miso, sesame, wasabi and soy sauce to the bowl. Once you are done with half the bowl, mix in the hot dashi soup made of bonito and kombu. This reminds me of having porridge.
Magma Ramen S$14.80++
This is kinda challenging spicy ramen served in a hot stone bowl. There are 20 levels of spiciness to choose from. We tried spicy level 5 and I cannot make it. I am not a spicy eater and I failed badly. The ramen is made with six different kind of spices including capsicum peppers, Japanese black pepper, chilli padi, chilli oil, Korean chilli flakes and Japanese chilli flakes. It’s a fiery challenging dish!
With the varieties in the menu and affordable pricing, it is a nice place to dine in with couple of friends or even group gathering. I will be visiting the place again in few days time for my birthday celebration.
