[SG EATS] Skyve Wine Bistro At Winstedt Road
Skyve Wine Bistro located at Winstedt Road offers hearty modern bistro fare. I visited the bistro recently to check out their new menu inspired by Chef Jachin Tan. Chef Jachin has recently joined her sister, Celine Tan and it is a family partnership bistro that opened its door in November 2011.
We were here to check out the new menu inspired from Chef’s personal experiences. He sources for local and regional ingredients to incorporate them into the dishes.
Beef Tartare S$18.00
First up we have the Beef Tartare topped with miso cured truffle yolk, paired with shallot dust, gherkin gelee and biscuit. We were told to mix everything together before we take a bite. The combination gives a welcoming mouth feel flavors.
Smoked Tomato S$12.00
The next starter is the Smoked Tomato with buffalo snow. The tomato is sourced from Cameron Highlands. Thus, this explains the sweetness taste.
Mediterranean Octopus S$18.00
Char grilled octopus served with lemon pickled eggplant, vandouvan and cauliflower puree. A mixture flavours of the dish and the octopus textured is well-executed.
Smoked Tenderloin S$38.00
Beautifully plated smoked tenderloin served with gobo, pickled green pepper, braised shitake and truffle soil. The distinctive smell of truffle is not only of interest to gourmet and yet not overpowering the smoked flavours of the meat. It was lovely dish.
Cilantro Chilli Smoked Duck S$24.00
Fancy for a change? Try out this dish served with quinoa, edamame, pink peppercorn and corn ricotta. The smoked duck is well-executed with a nice aromatic flavour. It gives a healthy touch with the pairing ingredients as well.
Lobster Sang Mee S$32.00
One of the signature dish here in Skyve, which is improvised with a modern twist. In local term, this is called ‘atas’ sang mee with half a lobster, abalone and mussels in one plating. And simply pour over the egg drop soup upon serving to enjoy this scrumptious dish. It is rather impressive though.
Semifreddo of Lime S$10.00
Beautifully plated dessert topped with blue pea flower caviar. It is too pretty that I wouldn’t stop looking. Nice, light and sweet-sour taste I would say. This is best to order after the meal to cleanse your palate.
Molten Chocolate S$12.00
Chocolate lovers would love this! I love the richness of the chocolate and paired with salted caramel ice is a splendid idea.
With a nice and quiet ambience away from the noisy streets and malls, this place is ideal for big group gathering and dates. The price is quite affordable too! They also have weekend brunch to look forward. For more information, check out their website.
