Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah at Balestier Road has a long history way back in 1948. It is the oldest lot set up shop by Hainan-born owner, Mr Li Fan Long. Tau Sar Piah is said to be invented in 1972 and has been going strong since then. Tau Sar Piah (豆沙饼) refers to Mung Bean Paste Biscuit. Singapore and Malaysia have their own version of Tau Sar Piah and unique in their own way.Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah
My uncle used to buy Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah back to Johor Bahru whenever he is back from Singapore. So, we have been eating this since young. When my friend decided to buy some for me, I decided to blog about it. I posted on Instagram and some of my Malaysian friends shared that they prefer Malaysian-style Tau Sar Piah because Singapore version is a bit tad sweet. Some said they prefer Singapore version. I guess it is all about individual preference.

Unlike Malaysia Tau Sar Piah, Singapore version is crisp and flaky with the saltiness in it that balance off the sweet fillings. Each bite is packed with buttery flavour and can be quite addictive too. The sweet tau sar piah is easily recognized by the sprinkling of sesame seeds on top. Both sweet and savoury pastries are soft and light to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea. It is a delectable snack to enjoy it anytime any day.Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah-Balestier Road-pricing
