[SG EATS] Ren Lounge At South Beach Avenue – Japanese Omakase Restaurant & Bar With Edo-Style Omakase Menu
Ren Lounge located at South Beach Avenue is a new Japanese Omakase restaurant in town. The restaurant is helmed by Executive Chef Samuel Lau, who has 7 years of experience at Japanese restaurants and as sushi chef at Shinji by Kanesawa (St Regis). There is a separate lounge and private room for diners to chill and relax after a long day at work with a choice of bar bites. Also, check out the counter seats in the centre of the restaurant where diners can experience omakase dining with an open kitchen concept.
We started with a Trio of Oysters from the bar bites. Indulge in 3 different ways- freshness, baked and topped with bread crumbs & bacon, or baked with cheese and cream spinach.
Then we had the signature bar menu specialty, Lamb Rack. Perfectly baked with a crisp herb crust and served with a side of petite mesclun salad.
Moving on next is the highlight of the night- Hana Omakase S$250.00++, which comprises Seasonal Appetisers, Sashimi, Uni, Yakimono, Sushi, Donburi, Soup, and Dessert.
Seasonal Appetisers
Refreshing Ichijiku Japanese Figs, creamy Monk Fish Liver simmered in sake and shoyu and Komochi Konbu Herring Roe with kelp.
Seasonal Sashimi
We had Katsuo, Kanpachi (Amber Jack), and Kimedai (Golden Eye Snapper) on that day.
Uni SpecialOur favourite Shiro Ebi hailed as the jewel of Toyama Bay paired with uni and ikura. Beautiful combination with pleasing visual and taste profile.
Grilled Fish
We had Tachiuo Shioyaki (grilled belt fish). Nicely grilled white fish tasted light and crispy on the outer skin.
Sushi Course
The sushi course includes 5 different sushi- Hirame, Shima aji, Akami, Chutoro and Otoro. Every single piece is nicely curated to ensure diners can indulge in the flavour of the fresh fish.
Donburi
Next we have the combination of negitoro topped with ikura and fresh ground wasabi. It comes with a bowl of warm miso soup.
Dessert
Sea Salt Ice-cream to mark the end of the omakase dinner. Seasonal Japanese Melon is served as well.
Omakase dining experience can be vary depending on individual but the dining ambience here is a plus point for dates and special occasion. Diners can enjoy cocktails and drinks at the lounge before proceeding to the dining area to enjoy the meal for the night. There is also private room that offers space for guests to hold special events and celebration. Customized menu options are available as well.
