[SG EATS] Charcoal Char Siew Wanton Noodle (碳烤黑叉烧) At Kim San Leng Food Centre | Bishan
Whenever people talked about Kim San Leng Food Centre, Min Ji Chicken Rice stall came into the picture. The food centre is located within a walking distance from Bishan MRT Station and Junction 8 Mall. But I am here not for the chicken rice but for the Charcoal Char Siew Wanton Noodle few stalls away from the famous chicken rice.
The stall is known for its char siew roasted over charcoal with caramelised glaze. So, I am tempted to give it a try. I was there for breakfast with my friend and we ordered the S$5.00 signature charcoal char siew wanton noodle. I wanted to order their fried dumplings but it is only available after 11:00am that morning. So, too bad! Order, payment and collection are made on the spot and it is all about self-service here.
So for a plate of S$5.00, it comes with the slices of char siew, wanton, noodles and of course soup. There are other options like you can opt for rice and also a la carte dishes. You can refer to their menu signage at the stall.
My friend and I thought the wantons are the star of the dish instead of the char siew. The wantons are generously filled with shrimp and minced meats in it. It is relatively bigger in size as compared to other wantons I had most of the time. The char siew was alright but we thought the char-ness can be better. But of course as a whole, this plate of wan ton noodles tasted decent. Noodles were springy and the chili gives an extra punch in flavour. I still prefer Chef Kang’s Char Siew though. All in all if you are around the vicinity area and craving for wanton noodles, you can swing by and also order the famous chicken rice.
