[SG EATS] GoroGoro Steamboat & Korean Buffet At The Centrepoint
My last visit to GoroGoro Steamboat & Korean Buffet was in 2016 ( Read here). Time flies and GoroGoro has closed down the outlet at Orchard Gateaway and re-opens at The Centrepoint outlet last November 2020. They also have another outlet at Tampines 1.
I invited my friends to join me for the steamboat session at this new space recently. He had been here recently during Chinese New Year period and the feedback was not bad. So, I look forward for our dinner session that day.
No much changes as compared to my previous visit except that we have to order our ingredients through the order chit instead of self-service due to safety measure during this Covid-19 situation.
There are a total of 7 choices of soup bases- Beauty Collagen, Fiery Mala, Pepper Bakuteh, Tangy Tomato, Thai Tomyam, Korean Ginseng and Miso Seaweed. The staff shared that the 3 popular soup bases are Beauty Collagen, Thai Tomyam and Korean Ginseng. So we decided to go for the first two but opt out Korean Ginseng and went for Miso Seaweed. The Miso Seaweed does not live up to our expectation and we should have just listen to the staff. Oppss… But if you are miso lover, you can give this a try.
And the must-have condiments to dip for steamboats are available in DIY version. You can pick your ingredients from the order chit and they will serve accordingly. You can still DIY your own sauce.
We did not order the whole ingredients in the list but part of it only. Here are some of the ingredients we had for our steamboat including their signature chicken wings. The usual steamboat ingredients include meats, frozen seafood, vegetables, mushroom, luncheon meat and tofu are in the list.
Not forgetting the carbs like Steamed Rice, Tanghoon, Ee Mee, Instant Noodles and Mee Sua are available.
If you are visiting them on weekend or Public Holiday,be sure to try their Salted Egg Popcorn Chicken. It is recommended by my friend who tried before. I did not get to try though since we visited the place during weekdays.
As for the desserts, they have the Watermelon, Honeydew, Barley with Ginko nuts, nourishing Peach Gum and Orh Nee (Yam Paste) in the list. But manage your expectation though as this is not a Teochew restaurant and their orh nee may not as thick and pasty as you imagine. Overall it is still decent enough.
Overall the steamboat here is not bad with the price offered. There are a wide variety of ingredients available for the steamboat considering the price they offer. It is more of a pocket-friendly steamboat place for everyone.
