Started a new chapter with The Clifford Clinic a few months ago. I find myself facing the common challenge of weight management, which is something many office professionals can relate to. On top of that, I always attend food tastings after work, which has made it even more difficult for me to shed those extra pounds. Since the post-Covid period, I have noticed significant weight gain, particularly around my abdominal area. In light of this, I consulted Dr Gerard Ee, of celebrity clinic – The Clifford Clinic and he suggested CoolSculpting, a fat-freezing weight loss treatment for me.
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that removes stubborn-to-shift pockets of fat with zero downtime by freezing it, unlike with more drastic measures such as liposuction, the results are permanent.
How and why does it work?
The fat-freezing technology of CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling, known as Cryolipolysis, to target, freeze and kill fat cells.
It works by ‘freezing’ the fat cells where the fat is to be removed (but nerves and other body tissues are kept intact) using an applicator for 1-2 hours. Once the treated fat cells are frozen, they die and naturally processed and eliminated from the body and gone forever.
What does CoolSculpting feels like?
You may feel slight discomfort at the start of the treatment when the cooling begins, which may last for a few minutes. It gradually eases and many people proceed to sleep, watch videos or work after.

When will I see the results?
Results will usually be visible within 1-5 months. Typically results will peak in the 2nd or 3rd month. It is said that each session decreases the number of fat cells in the treatment area by about 20%.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment will feel like a “pull and tug”. The Coolsculpting machine “pulls” the treatment area to the cooling panels of the applicator to ‘freeze’ the fat efficiently. The discomfort is mild, and most people still find it comfortable enough to work on other activities.
Is there any downtime?
The treated area will mostly feel a little sore but not too painful. You should be able to resume normal activities immediately.
My Experience
My CoolSculpting journey began with a consultation with Dr. Gerard Ee, where I expressed my concern about my troublesome stomach area. The doctor carefully assessed my needs and identified the areas where fat reduction was required. It is essential to consult with a medical professional before deciding on any treatment, as they can create a personalized plan to help you achieve your desired results.
After the consultation, I proceeded to the treatment room for my session. The therapists marked the positions on my stomach where the CoolSculpting applicators would be placed. This marking step is crucial because it ensures that the applicators are precisely positioned in the areas that need sculpting the most.
Next, a special cool gel sheet was placed over the marking, where the applicator would be placed. The gel sheet acts as a barrier between the CoolSculpting machine and my skin, ensuring that the skin is protected during the treatment. Moving on the machine was properly positioned and placed over the marking. I could feel slight discomfort initially and slowly went numb with it. I took a short nap and the 1 hour treat just flew by.
Upon completing the treatment, the machine emitted a beeping sound. This indicates that it was time to remove the applicator. The therapist then performed a deep massage on the treated area to help expedite the breakdown of the frozen fat cells. I must say that the massage was the most uncomfortable part of the treatment, and I would rate it a 3/10 in terms of discomfort.
In the days following the treatment, I felt some soreness in the treated area. But overall, I was able to resume my daily activities without any major disruption.
I experienced two sessions and based on my own personal assessment; my stomach fats have significantly reduced. Each session is meant to eliminate up approximately 20% of the fat cells. The most noticeable change after the treatment is I feel my tummy is not as bloated as before. The tummy is still there but I can see a sizable difference. It is not unexpected as we react to treatments differently.
Overall, CoolSculpting can be excellent for specific areas of the body that are prone to extra fat. For my situation, one session is not enough to see significant change and that I would need to continue my sessions to get rid of the stomach fats. It is an investment for myself.

The whole treatment process was quick and smooth. First up is the application of numbing cream to take effect. I waited for approximately 20 minutes before the treatment starts. The doctor was very gentle and patient with me. The good thing about Profhilo is that I can walk out of the clinic without anyone realizing that I just did the treatment. It did hurt to be honest. The pain level is about 6/10. I was kindly given a stress ball to squeeze if I experience any discomfort. So, it was not that bad after all. The most sensitive injections were those near my lips and eyes as the skin in thinner and more sensitive.
There were some tiny bumps like small mosquito bites after the treatment but it went off by end of the day. I was lucky because my friend’s bumps lasted for a few days. Thus, it really depends on individual skin profile. My result can be seen as early as 1 week after the treatment, and it is said the best results seen at one month following the treatment.
One Month After The Treatment
True enough, Profhilo helps smoothen and tighten my skin. I can feel the changes after a week. It stimulates collagen production naturally and provides a deep long-lasting hydration giving the skin a glowing natural look. My skin looks hydrated, and I can feel it, especially when I wake up in the morning. My sisters also noticed the difference on my overall skin radiance.
Is Profhilo Worth It?
I would say yes and no. Reason being is that it is an effective and fancy skincare product that is injected into your skin, rather than applied on daily. The result is effective as compared to your daily skin routine. The only downside is the maintenance cost of the treatment. If you are as vain as me, then it is a Yes! So, it all boils down to your budget.
