Other than savoury suppers from the mamak or food court stalls, you can now have late night dessert spot at 深夜食糖 – SYST. Johor Bahru cafes are expanding fast and you get to see new cafes opening almost every other month. Apart from the cafes near the JB Checkpoint , Mount Austin and Taman Molek, it’s time to venture to Taman Ungku Tun Aminah. This area is located quite a distance from JB checkpoint but nearer to Sutera area. If you are taking Grab/ Uber from JB checkpoint, the fee is approximately RM25~RM35 (one way) depending on traffic, timing and demand on that point of time. Read More

Another Korean Dessert Café opened in Johor Bahru in February 2017 and this time is located in Permas Jaya. Homibing Korean Dessert Café is the latest addition café in Johor Bahru. It is located along the new shop houses along Jalan Permas 1/15. It is approximately 30 minutes drive from the town. The whole building looks grand and has the classic exterior look. Whenever weekend comes, JB café hopping is one of the activities that we do across the causeway. Faculty of Caffeine is one of the first JB café that is by walking distance from City Square mall and JB check point. The café is also the earliest café that start operating which I would recommend to drop by if you reach JB by 9am to beat the traffic. This is what my friends and I do. We will travel as early as 7am from Singapore to reach JB by 9am so that we will be get stuck in the jam. Read More

My first gastronomy dessert art piece was at ATUM DESSERANT, Hong Kong. When I went jb café hopping with Tony & Hannah last month, we visited the similar concept by BY GRACE SWEET TREATS in Taman Pelangi. BY Grace Dessert Bar is the first dessert shop which has such creativity in Johor Bahru so far. Miyakori Coffee is the latest café addition by foot in Johor Bahru. Their first outlet was located at Bukit Indah with cute theme interior design and menu. Congrats on the second outlet expansion and it is located just inside City Square Shopping mall. It’s an ideal location to have crowds coming in from Singapore. Miyakori Coffee is located at level 5 of the mall with a nice clean white furbished design. There are only coffee, tea, pastries and cakes available in this outlet. It is actually located at the left side on the new shop houses once you turned in seeing Taman Sutera Signage along the highway.
