I had an “amazing race” on Good Friday where we walked across the causeway and managed to clear JB immigration by 8.45am. I went home to take the car and we stopped at Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh for breakfast. And thankfully by the time we finished our meal, Yap Fong Noodle House just opened for business. I spent few days in JB on the last week of December 2015 and my dad recommended me to Ayam Goreng Dapur Kayu which is a short drive from our home. “Ayam Goreng” is referring to fried chicken in Malay language. What triggers me to post about this place is that the fried chicken here are prepared traditionally with firewood. “Kayu” means wood in Malay language. Do you know there was once ‘Lemon Tree’ song was famous? I still remember my singing choir during good old school days choose this song to compete and we won 1st prize.
The name of the restaurant comes after the hype of the song and the owner, Jeffrey decided to use it as the name of the restaurant. Lemon Tree is located along shophouses facing residential place called Taman Melodies. The restaurant is actually 7 minutes away from KSL City Mall. The location is not easily identified if you are not a local here but GPS and Google Maps are useful for those who are driving. When in Melaka, do not miss out peranakan cuisine. I settled my lunch by opting for a peranakan food. Reservation was made a week before I headed to Malacca. I know I sound kiasu but just in case I miss it out. The restaurant tables are placed with the reservation tab with names on it. This shows how good business it is for Amy Heritage Nyonya Cuisine. There are many peranakan restaurants in Malacca but only few cooks are pure peranakan who cooks the cuisine.
